Paul Newman Obituary

It is with deep sorrow yet profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Paul Brent Newman on June 10, 2024. Surrounded by loved ones, Paul, aged 68, peacefully concluded his brave battle with cancer.

Born on January 1, 1956, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vallejo, CA, Paul spent his entire life in Napa, growing up in the Alta Heights neighborhood. He attended Alta Heights, Silverado Middle School, and graduated from Napa High School in 1974. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Clifford Newman and Kathryn Pearl Simpson, and his sister Kathleen Newman. He is survived by his cherished sons, Paul Brent Newman, Jr. (Ariel) and Joseph Tyler Newman (Devyn), and his beloved granddaughter, Ariya Lynn Newman. Also surviving him are his brother, David Penn Newman, and nieces and nephew Emily Dalton Newman, Katie Conder Rincon, and Richard Lee Conder.

Paul was known for exceeding expectations in all facets of life. As the owner of NorthBay Sportswear in Napa for 46 years, he built enduring relationships that sustained him throughout his journey. His dedication to his business was matched only by his devotion to his family, especially his sons, whom he adored beyond measure.

Paul found solace and joy in nature, a passion he shared with his father. From hiking and fishing in the High Sierra to golfing on pristine greens and competing in softball tournaments, Paul's spirit thrived in the outdoors. His love for adventure and the natural world shaped his character and enriched the lives of those around him.

Beyond his love for outdoor pursuits, Paul was deeply committed to supporting others afflicted with cancer and disease. He approached health holistically, advocating for nutrition, communication, and emotional well-being in addition to medical treatment. His compassionate support extended to many, offering comfort and guidance through challenging times.

A man of profound wisdom and compassion, Paul's guidance profoundly impacted all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his sons, testament to his unwavering commitment to family and community.

He had many, many friends who came to his aid amidst a loose knit support system that fulfilled his medical, nutritional, communicative, and emotional needs during his difficult path to the end. These loving, selfless friends included Vince Buccelatto, Sam Aldridge, Darlene Walsh, Lorna Borge, Robert Earl Cummings, and Ronald Campbell as well as his niece Emily Newman.

Paul's memorial service will be held on June 27, 2024, at 11 am in the Mormon Chapel at 2590 Trower Avenue, Napa. A reception will follow the service, offering an opportunity to celebrate Paul's life and share cherished memories.

Paul you were a fierce competitor on the golf course, a great friend off it... And a man who played the game and lived life, not to win, but to play it the right way. And you did my brother, with honor. Heaven rest you now, the Lord will shelter your precious boys and granddaughter through the love of all of us that still remain. Rest in peace old friend

Truly sad to hear Paul has passed away. Saw him at the last hs reunion and heard he was fighting cancer. Such a nice person in every way. My heart goes out to his adult kids and family. Too young, too sad.
