Robert Fellion Obituary

Robert Arthur Fellion

1945 - 2022

Robert "Bob" Arthur Fellion, beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, brother and loved community member, passed away in his hometown of St. Helena on July 2nd 2022. Born Sept. 15, 1945 to Lois Morrison Stansberry and Robert Fellion in Berkeley, CA. Bob's family moved him and his younger brother Steve Fellion (of Calistoga) to St. Helena where he attended St. Helena High School. There he met and later married the love of his life, Carol Rutherford, daughter of David and Minnie Rutherford in 1968. The wedding ceremony took place at the St. Helena Catholic Church and a reception at the Tucker Farm Center. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this August. Bob and Carol have two loving daughters, Carice Fellion Wilson (Calistoga/St.Helena) and Julie Fellion Baccelli (Oakland).

Bob had an 18-year career as a National Sales VP for Sears Roebuck and Co. His job moved his family to different California locations, opening new retail stores throughout the state. Bob formed many friendships along the way as he was a barrel of fun, an active family man and generous community member. He never cut corners when it came to hosting a great event for his friends, family and community. He was a generous man and he worked very hard to make sure that his friends and family had a good time in every situation. Bob was an incredible practical joker. He often had you convinced that you did in fact owe him $100. His life was full. Whether it was surfing beaches with his buddies in his youth, taking over Disneyland with his family during the summer, boating and fishing in NorCal lakes with his brother, dancing to live music, working in his garden while listening to his favorite music, attending his kids/grandkids functions and sporting events with Carol and friends, and traveling. His love for the Oakland Raiders and the Oakland A's was hard to match. Bob worked hard and played hard. He was proud of our wine region and loved a great glass of Cabernet. His support for the community athletic programs was one of his favorite activities. He loved bocce, he loved his local club organizations. He literally went to everything that the community had to offer and he supported as much as he could with his wife, Carol.

The Fellions purchased a deli in Calistoga in 1984 where they took much pride in owning a business and supporting the wonderful community of Calistoga. Bob and Carol retired from restaurant life and Bob took a job with Herdell Printing where he finished his career. He was proud to work for a great, family-owned business and the wineries. His customers were his friends and he was never empty handed when visiting or leaving his clients. Bob found a friend in everyone he met and always lent a helping hand where he could and did it with a big smile on his face. Bob was the face for many of the fundraisers and local events both in St. Helena and in Calistoga raising millions of dollars for good causes, never charging a dime for his time. When given a gift for his service, he would turn around and donate it back. Bob was supportive to all.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Carol Fellion, his two daughters Carice Wilson and Julie Baccelli. His brother, Steve Fellion. His son-in-law's Sean Wilson and Jerome Baccelli. His adoring grandkids, Gannon Wilson, Morgan Wilson, Tess Baccelli and Luc Baccelli. His nieces, Allison Fellion, Audrey Fellion and Marty Mullarky and family. We love you forever, papa! We will carry your spirit always and you will be in our hearts forever. You were the person we all hope to be.

Please RSVP to Carol at [email protected] and join us for a joyful Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 20th from 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at the place where Bob had spent so many memorable times with friends and family, The Native Sons Hall. Food and Spirits will be served, stories will be told, music by DJ Lalo, as well as one of Bob's favorite live bands "Twice As Good" from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Let's get our dance on and celebrate Bob's life just as he had wished.

In lieu of flowers, donations are graciously accepted to both the St. Helena and Calistoga Rotary where student scholarships will be granted in Bob's memory. St. Helena Rotary, PO Box 211 94574 and Calistoga Rotary, PO Box 754 Calistoga 94515 with Bob Fellion in the subject. On behalf of the family, we whole-heartedly thank our community for your support during this journey and hope to see you on August 20th.

I knew Bob for years, not well, but enough to know what a wonderful, positive, good-energy guy he was. I was always happy to see him coming. I hope your memories of him will sustain you now. xo

Our deepest sorrow for your loss. We can't remember an event in the Valley that didn't have Bob and Carol in it. They just don't make 'em like Bob Fell ion anymore. Looking forward to seeing what he has organized in Haven!
