Theodore N. "Ted" Treleven
March 16, 1961 - Dec. 2, 2023
ROSEVILLE - Ted Treleven, age 62, passed away gently at home on a Saturday afternoon after a long battle with cancer. Despite the limitations of his illness, he and his wife Donna were able to retire early and take dozens of backcountry camping trips over the last several years.
Ted was born in Fairfield, CA, to John and Rita Treleven, and spent most of his childhood and early years in Napa. He felt lucky that his parents and sisters, Kathy (Richard) Treleven and Claudia (Ken) Rinker, provided a very happy upbringing for him.
Ted is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna Scheerer-Treleven, with whom he felt even luckier to have married, as she encouraged him in his engineering studies and career, was his faithful fellow adventurer, and was an amazing support to him through his illness. Ted is also survived by his cousins: Robyn Treleven Torres, Ronald (Bill) Treleven, and Greg (Pam) Nullmeyer; his sister-in-law, Denise Scheerer-Bogovich; his brother-in-law, Dennis Scheerer; his mother-in-law, Pat Hampel; and his nephews: Andrew (Shauna) Roberts, Hudson Bogovich, Lewis Fromberg, and Kyle Scheerer.
He lived his whole life in Northern California but traveled widely, enjoying Hawaii and Yellowstone in particular. He retired from the City of Roseville as an Assistant II Engineer in 2020. Ted saw a small positive in his terminal diagnosis - the ability to say farewell to his loved ones.
In a goodbye note to his friends he stated "I just enjoyed having fun and doing things that were fun for others. So I am content with this being my legacy - if ever I put a smile on your face, if ever I made you laugh, then my life has been worthwhile."
A gathering to celebrate Ted's life is planned for early next year in Napa.

It's hard to believe it has been over a year now since we ALL lost Ted. I was with some friends not too long ago, who were also friends of Ted's, and were also at his memorial. I mentioned that it was now 1 year and they also couldn't hardly believe a year had already gone by. We toasted to Ted's memory. He will not be forgotten.

Sorry to see his passing. Ted was always meant to succeed. Growing up next door John was always a great Dad and taught us many things growing up. Ted followed his footsteps and they were always good together. Great family and was so lucky to have them as next door neighbors.

So sorry to hear the passing of Ted. My condolences to his family.
I can remember the many times his father would teach us scaling the mountains in Yountville. And the great road trip with his cousin to Yosemite. This is the only photo I could find it was in high school Justin Siana.

Ted will be greatly missed. He was a constant fixture in our lives over the past 30+ years. From backyard BBQ swimming parties, to mountain bike adventures, to scaling Half Dome and Mt. Whitney.
Thank you for the great and positive memories. Attached is Jeff Forester, Hans Petterson, and Ted at a birthday get-together in July 2021. We will always think of Ted during future adventures.

It's so sad to hear of Ted's untimely death. May he be enfolded in God's loving embrace together with all who have gone before him. I have lovely memories of him at St. Apollinaris Elementary School. He was always cheerful and indeed brought many smiles to many faces! Donna and extended family, my sympathy to all of you. It is so consoling that Ted got a chance to live life happily following his diagnosis and that you, Donna, took such good care of him. He has gone too soon but to a better place.
