Thomas Howe Obituary

Thomas William Howe

October 20, 1948 - September 13, 2024

NAPA - Second generation Napa native Thomas William Howe died on September 13th following a years-long struggle with liver cancer. He retired after thirty-five years as a Groundskeeper for the NVUSD and was most proud of his work on the Memorial Stadium when the grass was real. As a life-long fan of the Oakland Raiders, he was also particularly excited to have had the opportunity to work for them as the Field Manager for their practice facility in Alameda and the summer training camp at Redwood Jr. High School in Napa. He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Judith; daughters: Emily and Mary; step-sons: Aaron (Courtney) Braunstein, Adam (Stacy) Braunstein, and grandsons: Alexander and Connor.

Lovingly known as Sweetie, Pharaoh, A.C. , Dado and O.M.P., he will be dearly missed. Tom Howe was a good man. No services are to be held.

I still find it hard to accept that he is gone , He was such a great Human being. He was just so kind and caring and he was funny , I want his family to know, as
Iam sure they do, as to how much Tom was liked and loved by so many people that knew him . Thats just the way it was .

I too worked in maintenance with Tom while I was in grounds and before that I was always fixing his tires on his golf cart too over at transportation. He was a great guy, saw him in church a few times too! I didnt know he had liver cancer, I too have liver cancer. I pray I get to see him in heaven someday soon and watch him taking care of the beautiful grounds! I pray for the family during this difficult time and just know time heals all wounds. God Bless

I was a Mechanic for the school district. Tom would bring equipment in for repairs from time to time. I found him to be a very decent guy. Besides being a huge sports fan, he was very intense on making the sports fields he worked on the best they could be for the kids who played on them. The family and Napa have lost a very decent man.

I worked with Tom for years at the school district. We had a nice vacation at Tahoe with Tom and family and we spent a lot of time discussing sports. I saw less and less of Tom when my department got moved to a different location. He was a great friend and co-worker, going out of his way to help and especially to make Memorial Stadium one of the best fields anywhere. Tom will be missed by all of those that got to know him. Condolences to Judith and family. May his soul rest in peace.
