For the Malik Family - I worked with Barb at AT&T in Downers Grove. I will remember Barb for her sense of humor, her laugh and her kindness,(she gave me a huge bag of maternity clothes when I was pregnant with my first son). Treasure your memories of the time you had with her.

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to cross paths with you
in my first class at National. You have been a continued part
of my experience...a woman who shared her personal story
with her students. I admire and respect your knowledge,
experience, and courage to keep moving forward...
in spite of life's challenges. It feels like just yesterday that I saw you in the hallway on your way to class...with a smile on your face.
You have created a sense of partnership within our program.
As I begin my path of massage therapy, I will continue to remember
your smile and the strength behind your words of living
for your passions.
May light shine on you, Barb, as you begin a new journey.
Peace to your family.

My deepest sympathy to the Malik family. Barb and I became good friends when we worked together as AT&T Operators for several years. We shared many stories of our lives and children and she loved her family so very much! Barb was generous, sweet and fun and had insurmountable courage! She will be forever in my heart.

What a wonderful spirit Barb had. I remember the first time she demonstrated a technique on me in massage class, I told her she has the hands of a mother so gentle and soft. She said, 'Well, that's because I am a mother' and I just bet she was a gentle and soft one at that. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. I lost my mother to lung cancer years ago and know the pain you are feeling. We, her students, would love to be present tonight but we have class. We will have a moment of silence at our graduation this Saturday in Barb's honor. Best wishes.

michael, michelle, christopher and carol:
i want you all to know that if barb loved you all any more than she did, there would have had to have been two of her.
quick to smile and laugh and help or just to listen or encourage. optimism that could not be broken, a spirit that flew so high here and will continue to soar ever higher.
i am sorry for your loss and pray your memories of her sustain you. barb was, and always will be, a beacon of light and inspiration for me and so many other lives she touched. i cannot forget someone who has touched my heart as she has.

To Malik family: I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss Barb greatly. We used to be workout buddies at AT&T -- every morning at the crack of dawn and again at lunch time - we were maniacs back then! I was in massage school when we'd workout and we'd talk about which muscles we were working - she got interested in massage school then and went right after she left AT&T. She was a wonderful spirit with a great attitude ALWAYS. She will be greatly missed by so many!

Barb was my 'friend' in a true sense of the word for over 30 yrs.
I had hoped and prayed that her trip to Mexico would give her the peace and healing she wanted and so deserved.
I know her spirit soars, free and whole. I will forever miss her.
Please find comfort, peace, and healing. I am so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Eileen Leathers

Barb was was a beautiful person, a truely sincere and quality individual. I worked with barb for many years at AT&T, and never knew anyone who could say anything but kind words about her. I will never forget the sparkle in her eyes as she spoke of her children. What a wonderful mother she was. She will be terribly missed by so so many.
