David H. Dahm

1947 - 2021

David H. Dahm, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021, with his loving wife, Pat, and his two sons, Kevin and Mike, at his side.

Dave was born March 18, 1947, to Herbert and Phyllis (nee Shry) Dahm in Elmhurst, IL. He was a lifelong resident of the western suburbs, living in Lombard, Carol Stream, Roselle, Naperville, and most recently Plainfield.

He graduated from Glenbard East High School, Lombard, IL in 1965, and Lewis University, Romeoville, IL in 1969. In his early days at Lewis, he met and fell in love with Pat. Pat or "Patti," as he affectionately called her, was his world - and he was hers. They were married in 1970, and had recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.

Dave had a passion not only for Patti, but also music and, more specifically, classic rock. He was the drummer in the bands Rhythm Shakers and Chance, among others. He also enjoyed attending concerts of 1960's and 1970's bands, as well as traveling with Patti during retirement. Besides music, he enjoyed spending time with his three granddaughters and family.

Dave spent the majority of his professional career as a sales manager in book publishing. Although he spent a lot of time travelling and away from home, he was always a dedicated father to his two sons.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife - and the love of his life - Pat Dahm, and their two sons, Kevin (Wendy) of Plainfield and Mike (Kerry) of Naperville, along with his three beautiful granddaughters, Lainey, Lily, and Kaitlyn, whom he simply adored, as well as his brother, Denny (Sue), and nieces and nephews.

Dave will be remembered as a "fighter," who handled all of life's challenges with pride and strength. His love for his family was limitless and the source of his strength.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2021, 4:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, IL.

A celebration of Dave's life will follow Friday, 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
