Donna Hackemer Obituary

Donna J. Hackemer (nee Hall), age 82, a lifelong resident of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021 at her home. She was born May 22, 1938 in Chicago, IL.

Beloved wife of John T. Hackemer, whom she married May 28, 1960, loving mother of Anita Ann Mueller (Wesley), Daniel John (the late Kimberly) Hackemer, Diane Marie Vitacco (Tom), Heather Catherine Alex-ander (Jarvis), adored grandmother of Jordan (Ricky), Justine (Eric), James, Kayla, Karissa, Hailey (Dan), Emily, Jarvis (Kylie) and Marigold, cherished great-grandmother of Stella, Greta, Melanie and Theodore, devoted daughter of the late E. Marcellus and Veronica (nee Wirkus) Hall, dear sister of Mary Alice (the late Don) Bailey and the late Dianne Sheffield (twin sister), sisters-in-law Evelyn (the late Al) Pro-kop, the late Marie (the late Bill) Welsh, and fond aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.

Donna was born in Chicago and moved to Naperville while in the second grade. She attended SS. Peter & Paul Grade School, Naperville High School (Class of 1956) and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A loving and devoted homemaker, Donna also worked as a consultant for Ed Hoy's International, Warrenville, IL and at Claiborne Art Gallery in downtown Naperville where she painted and sold greeting cards. Donna was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville. She enjoyed painting, creating stained glass decor, gardening, and restoring furniture. She loved hosting holiday gatherings and started many treasured traditions. Her favorite place to vacation was the family cabin where she enjoyed observing the changing seasons around the lake, and shared family memories from several generations.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 3:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL. Current health guidelines state that no more than 50 individuals at a time may pay their respects to the family, and guests are required to wear masks and follow social distancing procedures.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 21, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donna may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
