Evan Garrett Obituary

Evan Garrett passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, in the loving embrace of his parents and brother.

Evan was born in Seattle and lived in Edmonds, WA, until he was 9 years old. Evan moved to Naperville with his family in 2003. He attended Springbrook Elementary School, Gregory Middle School, and Neuqua Valley High School (class of 2012). He graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. degree in Biology in 2017.

Baseball was Evan's passion, but he loved all sports. He loved the Cubs but never missed an opportunity to cheer on all professional sports teams from Seattle. He had an insatiable curiosity and desire to learn. He loved reading historical fiction books and mystery novels.

As a three-time cancer survivor, Evan persevered through many health problems in his short life. His motivation for living such a rich life was based in his love of family and his incredibly supportive friends in Seattle and Naperville. He was a model of love, patience and compassion and touched many lives across the U.S. and beyond. May he now rest in peace!

Evan is survived by his parents, Steve and Rita Garrett of Naperville, IL, and his older brother, Kyle Garrett, also of Naperville. Evan is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins across the U.S.

A celebration of Evan's life will be scheduled in Naperville, IL and Edmonds, WA. If you would like to honor Evan, he would appreciate you giving donations in his memory to either, or both, of the following:

Steve, Rita and Kyle, My thoughts are with you at this time of grief. Surviving cancer three times Evan was certainly a warrior. My parents Gail and Virginia lived next door to Evan's Grandpa Bill and Grandma Betty in Anacortes and were good friends. I just happened to read Seattle Times today and was so shocked to find Evan's passing. May all the fond memories be a comfort to you. Our sincere sympathies. Karen and Keith Halgren
