Loretta Zilis Obituary

Loretta Ann Zilis, 92, formerly of Naperville, IL passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore, Illinois. Loretta was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1929, the daughter of Peter and Monica (Pilkis) Stankus in Chicago, IL. On October 21, 1950, she married George Stanley Zilis in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1998. In 1972, they moved to Naperville where she resided until 2017.

As a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Loretta was deeply devoted to her family. She was a loving and caring caregiver to her husband and parents. In her honor, a hosta hybrid was named after her, 'Lovely Loretta'. She was also extremely proud of her 100% Lithuanian ancestry.

Loretta is survived by her four children: Steven (Diane) Zilis of Willis, TX, Mark (Katie Queller-Zilis) Zilis, Mary Beth (Rick) Vanous both of Rochelle, IL and Cathy (Jeff) Sawner of Tempe, AZ; six grandchildren: and five great grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville, IL. Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. at St. Casimir Lithuanian Catholic Cemetery in Chicago. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
