Merilee Skaar

1948 - 2016

Merilee Ann Skaar, age 68, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, was born on August 17, 1948 in Ithaca, NY. On January 20, 2016, Merilee passed away peacefully at her home. She is survived by her loving children, Kristi (Douglas) Hamelberg and Eric (Heather) Skaar; her cherished grandchildren, Chloe and Lucas Hamelberg and Ella and Hannah Skaar; her dear brother, Michael (Ginny) Smith and dear sister Tracey Smith; her nephew and niece, Jake and Jessie Tribbey; as well as her faithful Shih Tzu, Lexie, and a lifetime of good friends. Merilee earned her bachelors degree in physical education from Gettysburg College. She took extreme pride in operating her successful crafting business, Giggles and Grins, for over 20 years. She enjoyed strolling along Naperville's Riverwalk, celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family. Merilee easily made friendships and will be remembered by many as the nicest person they ever met.
