Nancy Majewski Obituary

Majewski, Nancy M. (nee Yedinak), 55, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at her home, after a battle with cancer. Nancy was born Jan. 8, 1956, in Chicago to Michael and Dorothy Yedinak. She grew up on Chicago's North Side and graduated from Alvernia High School in 1973. She married Tom Majewski on Oct. 28, 1978. She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in elementary and special education. She taught in the Catholic School System for several years. After moving to Naperville in 1991, Nancy worked as an orthodontic assistant and later as a dental assistant for John Zuskar DDS, in Naperville. She was a member Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville. Nancy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece and aunt. You could not find a better friend. She loved to host family gatherings accented with her own special touches. She rarely sat down - including a Thanksgiving dinner where she served turkey with both hands in bright orange casts. Her family will miss her long phone calls that sometimes went on for hours, late into the night, fueled by large cups of coffee and an infectious love for others. She remembered your successes and cared about your struggles, and never hesitated to brag about the achievements of her husband, her kids, a sibling, nieces, nephews or a friend. Her calendar hanging in the kitchen was always crammed. When her kids were in school, she was a frequent participant in Naperville North's Friends of Music. But she was never too busy to send a card, drop off a thoughtful gift or make a visit. She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Sara (Tripp) Burton; son, Michael Majewski; granddaughter, Elaina Burton; parents, Michael and Dorothy Yedinak; sister, Dianna (Dan) Scola; brothers, Robert (Alice Bendig) Yedinak and Mark Yedinak; mother-in-law, Geraldine (the late Edwin) Majewski; and in-laws, Diane (Mark) Hanley, Steven (Sue Patterson) Majewski, Bill (Carla Powless) Majewski and James (Shelley) Majewski. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leo and Wanda Sheber, and Michael and Mary Yedinak; and twin sons, Timothy Edwin and Robert Michael, who died in infancy. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 Mill Street, Naperville. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 11, from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Interment at Ss Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville. For info, contact 630-355-0213, www.friedrich-jones.com

Dear Tom and Family,
I can only think of beautiful words that barely touch describing Nancy. Vivacious, loving, joyful, kind, energetic, giving, glowing, loyal, sincere, humble, spiritual, creative...her zest for life was so strong that I do believe she is not allowing me to speak of sadness as we reflect on all that she brought to so many of us. Her love and energy knew no bounds and boy could those little legs move. As another said here, the loss of Nancy is huge. Hoping we can all take what she gave us and continue to spread her light through all of our days. She was truly one of a kind and I am so grateful she was a part of our lives. Love to you and yours, Jennifer and Patrick and Jocelyn Joy and Madelyn from Marching Band

I had the good fortune to meet Mrs. Majewski shortly after moving to Naperville at the start of high school, meeting her through my friendship with her son Michael. Never have I met a more caring and fun loving woman. She made her household the place to be for any social event, whether it was a school dance after-party, New years eve, memorial day...I have great memories of all. She will be greatly missed by all.

Nancy Majewski was a wonderful person. She had a great sense of humor and helped me through many what seems now to be not-so-tough moments in my life. I met her through her son when I was in college. She will always be remembered in my heart. My husband and I will miss her dearly.
