Norman Redelsheimer Obituary

After nearly 85 years, Norman Redelsheimer of Overland Park, KS, (formerly of Naperville, IL) said, "I've had a good life." And he did. He was raised in Chicago, by loving parents, Helen and Reuben Redelsheimer (both deceased) as a middle child. Brothers, Robert and Karl (also deceased) as well as cousins and friends have told stories of Norm hopping on his bike to chase any fire truck he possibly could. He leaves behind his mostly patient and very loving wife, Esther (Nelson) who can now talk without being interrupted, two sons, Brian, of Prairie Village, KS, Duane, of Olathe, KS, and daughter Karla Reisman of Park City, Utah. He brightened the days of nearly everyone with whom he talked, worked, ate, walked and worshiped-even though he would tell you, "I'm a private person." If he could leave you laughing, it was one fine day.

Having graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL in 1960, with a BA in accounting, he went from "pomp to pump" for Amoco Oil, then Standard of Indiana. After a six month "pause" to attend Army boot camp, he returned to Amoco in sales, simultaneously serving three years in the Illinois National Guard Reserves, and three years in Military Intelligence. Retirement from Amoco in 1997, as an HR senior manager, gave him the opportunity to lead "the best" walking tours of Chicago for the Chicago Architecture Foundation. He was grateful, too, to have more time with his much-loved in-laws, Courtney, Colleen, and Neil, ten grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. He was extremely pleased to attend his oldest grandson's wedding and even more pleased to welcome two great grandchildren. He loved God, loved his family, people, chips, and one daily Diet Coke.

His Memorial Service will be July 20th, at 3:00 p.m. at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave. Leawood, KS 66224. Live Stream: cor.org/memorialsonline
