Barbara Colfer Marco Island, FL
Barbara Arletta Louise Colfer, 82, of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Darlington, MD, died on November 17, 2008. Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late James Smith and Louise Marland, and wife of the late Dr. Richard James Colfer. Right after high school she worked for the F.B.I. where she was sworn in by J. Edgar Hoover. She was an RN at a pediatric hospital in Washington, DC and worked at Franklin Square Hospital where she met her husband. She was married for 47 years to Dr. Colfer, who was a physician and deputy medical examiner for Harford and Cecil counties.
Mrs. Colfer is survived by a son, Richard M. Colfer of Baltimore, MD; a daughter and sonin-law, Dr. Joan M. Colfer and Carl Kepford of Marco Island.
Friends may call at McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon, MD on Friday, November 21st, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Forest Hill, MD on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Isaac Karoor, officiating. Interment will be in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
