Clyde Shadley Marco Island, FL
Clyde Shadley, of Marco Island, FL, formerly St. Louis, MO, passed away January 3, 2015 at the age of 90.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of almost 65 years, Verna Shadley; his sister, Vivian Lloyd; his son, Tom Shadley and wife Christine; daughter, Debbie Shadley; and son, Jim Shadley and wife Charisse. Clyde's grandchildren are Christopher and Cody Shadley, Jessica Miles, and Michael and Stephanie Shadley.
He was born in New Baden, IL. Clyde proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Graduating from Washington University, he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his career, he was one of the first professional engineers specializing in fire protection systems. He founded and ran Clayton Fire Protection, a sprinkler pipe fabrication company in St. Louis, MO.
In his younger days, he enjoyed bicycle racing, dancing, and volleyball. He continued his love of dancing along with boating, fishing, tennis, and bridge. Most of all, Clyde loved his journey through life with his family and dear friends.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 (TODAY) at 11:00 a.m. at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL.
Contributions in Clyde's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

So sorry to hear about the loss of my Uncle. I remember all the great times when the family was here in St. Louis. He and my Dad(Paul), Clyde's brother were great men. Their legacy as great fathers and good men will live on.

What a shock to open up this page in the news and see Clydes beautiful smile looking back at me. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Clyde was such a dear man, always ready with a riddle, dancing eyes and always smiling. He will be dearly missed and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to know him.
