George Ihnat

Naples - George Ihnat 85, son of George Ihnat and Susan Halychek Ihnat, went to his eternal rest on Jan. 7, 2021, after a battle with liver cancer. George was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. He was a military policeman in the United States Army during the Korean War. George was married to Mary Ann Kupiec Ihnat.

He received BA and MA degrees from Patterson State University and did extensive post - graduate work at Seaton Hall University in NJ. He taught school for three years and was a school administrator for 32 years. George and Mary Ann moved to Naples, Florida in 2000 where he was feared by fish throughout the gulf coast.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years. He is also survived by his two sons, Dr. Richard Ihnat

and daughter-in-law, Aysin Koperan of St. Louis MO and Dr. Daniel Ihnat and daughter-in-law Dr. Chelsea Ihnat of Edina, MN. George was blessed to have eight grandchildren, Kody, Jacqueline, Jocelyn, Lilah, Greta, Sawyer, Nichole and Chloe. George is also survived by his sister Helen Badri of Chicago and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid pandemic, there are no planned public services

I have many memories of visiting uncle George in NJ and Florida. He was always fun , humorous. He and Mary Ann raised 2 great sons. I am sure he influenced many students during his career. We will miss him.
