Joan Dunne Marco Island, FL
Joan Dunne, 78, of Marco Island passed away on Saturday, July 7th, 2012. Joan was born to Helen and James Donnelly on April 26th, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Manual Training HS in Brooklyn graduating in 1951.
Joan married Charles Dunne on December 26th, 1953 and spent 47 wonderful years together until Charles's passing in November of 2000. Joan and Charles moved from Brooklyn to Lindenhurst, Long Island in 1960 where they raised their three children.
She enjoyed working in retail while raising her family and later worked for Dun & Bradstreet as an administrative assistant.
Joan and Charles retired and moved to Marco Island in 1990. She enjoyed singing in the Marco Community Choir, and was an avid bridge player often found playing at the Jewish Community Center of Marco Island.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Alice) Dunne of Denver, NC, and Susann C. (Ira) Kalkin of Palm Harbor, FL, and Lori (James) Brown of Naples, FL; a sister, Helen Piekarz, of Sommerville, NJ; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; and sisters, Muriel Moran and Margaret Flood.
Relatives and friends may call (TODAY) Tuesday from 10:00 a.m,, until service time at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East, where funeral ceremonies will begin at Noon.
Joan will be buried at Marco Island Cemetery next to her loving husband Charles.
Donations in her memory may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples 34105.
