Keith Wilkie Obituary

Keith Wilkie

Marco Island, FL

Keith Andrew Wilkie, our beloved son, brother, and grandson, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, in an accident in Tampa, FL. He was only 25 years old.

We cannot begin to explain how much Keith will be missed. Known as "puddin' pie" to his dad, Keith would call his mom daily simply to say, "I love you." His best friends were his siblings, Billy, Amanda and George. Keith's family loved him dearly.

Everybody who knew Keith will miss him. He was kind, loving, thoughtful, generous, and hardworking. Keith was also full of life and had a huge, ever-present smile. Even if you had not seen him in years, Keith would greet you with a hug and a smile; he took joy in his family and friends, and always made you feel like you were the most important person in the world to him.

Keith was born and raised on Marco Island. He attended Tommie Barfield Elementary School, Manatee Middle School, and Lely High School before heading to college. Keith went on to have a successful career with MetLife. He enjoyed boating, swimming, traveling, meeting new people, and celebrating family events.

Keith came from a large and loving family. He was closest to his parents, Bill and Lynn Wilkie, and his three siblings. Keith was also beloved to his maternal grandparents, Don and Mary Ross, numerous aunts and uncles, and over 20 cousins and second cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Fritzie Wilkie.

We were so proud of Keith and the man he became. He represented the best in us, and we will forever miss him. Please pray for Keith, as we do, and remember the joy he brought to so many people's lives.

A visitation to honor Keith will take place Thursday, January 21, 2015 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 East Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, Fl 34145.

Keith's Funeral Mass will be held At San Marco Catholic Church on Friday January 22, 2015 at 11:00 am.

Very sorry for your loss...our heartfelt condolences to your family...

January 22, 2016

I am not very good at writing in a situation like this. As a coach you build a special bond with your players, your kids. You get into a place with them many do not have a chance to. Keith was a special young man in many ways, but especially great on the basketball court playing for his school and the Eagles. As the years pass by I find the specific memories begin to fade, but certain things stay on for longer. Keith is one of those special memories and I know he understands why I am not with him today...I still spend my time with kids and my duties do not allow me to attend. As I coached last night, Keith came to my mind and it was special. I loved Keith and even though our paths have not crossed recently, our special bond is and will always be with me. I know the basketball players in heaven have a new member today and he will be special. God Bless you Keith!

It was such an honor to have worked with such an amazing person. Keith always put a smile on your face, every time you seen him! I loved how he was eager to share all the sales tips and pointers he tried that were successful... I will miss smelling all the delicious food he would always bring in... the man could eat! He also had a big heart... he found out I liked to help others that are less fortunate and how I liked to donate to E.C.H.O. He came into work with giant garbage bags filled with very nice/expensive clothes that no longer fit him (due to the massive muscles he was building). These clothes were given out to many people! They found a new confidence in these clothes from Keith! One man even looked very nice for an interview and got the job (something he had struggled with in his usual t-shirt and jeans). Keith greatly impacted everyone with his infectious smile, positive energy, and big heart! ... he is truly missed already... God bless all of his family and friends.
