Lila Gelman Obituary

Lila Gelman

Naples, FL

Lila "Nanny" Gelman passed away peacefully on April 14, 2016 in Naples, Florida. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 20, 1930, and lived in Maryland and New York before moving to Naples in 1993.

She is survived by Hyman Gelman, her husband of 66 years; daughter Janice (Tarik) Ayasun and son Mark (Laura) Gelman, both of Marco Island, Florida; grandchildren Jerol, Suzi (Gary), Jonathan (Anjelica), and Nikki; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Colin, David, and Danika.

Always the life of the party, Nanny was known for her sense of humor, sincere compliments, and endless repertoire of songs and dances. Her vivacious personality gave her the ability to quickly befriend, and make a lasting impression on, everyone she met.

A memorial service will be held at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 20th.

Gifts in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital – one of her favorite organizations.

Lila we will always remember you with great fondness, for your sharp wit, candor and your love for your husband and your family. We shared much laughter and good times in the past. Rest in eternal peace in God's arms.
