Martin A. 'Marty' Welzmuller of Bonita Springs, FL, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. He was 69. Formerly of White Meadow Lake, NJ he had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2000. Marty was born September 29, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Benno and Frieda (Henniger) Welzmuller.
Mr. Welzmuller attended New York University before enlisting in the United States Army. He was a veteran of Vietnam. Marty's career was spent working for AT&T, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 2003.
Mr. Welzmuller was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was very active in the Knights of Columbus Council 11281 and the Arthur J. Corr Assembly 3308. He enjoyed feeding the hungry of Collier County as a volunteer with Collier Harvest as well as fishing, cooking and coin collecting with his sons.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 18 years, Marian C. (Hoffmann) Welzmuller; loving children, Diane (Daniel) Bolognese of Butler, TN, Michael Welzmuller of Bonita Springs, FL, Paul (Andrea) Murphy of Lopatcong, NJ, Martin (Giulia) Welzmuller of Budd Lake, NJ, Tammy (Rickey) Eng of Pennington, NJ; brother, Jacob Welzmuller of Bonita Springs, FL; 11 cherished grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 (TODAY) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 (TOMORROW) at 12:00 noon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue North, Naples, FL 34108.
Memorials may be made in Marty's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
