Richard Parrillo Naples, FL
Richard Parrillo (Papa), passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2014 after a valiant battle against cancer. Born in Mendham, NJ on November 20, 1934, Rich was a cabinetmaker, owning his own shops in Mendham and then later in Menlo Park, CA. He was a diver in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War.
He spent the last 27 years in Naples, FL and was well-known and loved by everyone who enjoyed his stories, jokes, and quick wit in coffee shops around town. He was an avid reader and an excellent Italian chef. He loved to cook, read, golf, and watch old movies, history and car shows, and anything cooking-related. When he saw something he thought looked good, he'd get the ingredients and make a new appetizer, main dish, or dessert. Everyone's favorite 'Uncle Richie,' he also loved 'his grandchildren,' and they adored him. He had a special bond with Abby and his precious Will. He was most happy swimming with 'the little guy' or sitting with him in his favorite chair.
Rich is survived by dear friends Harold (Moni) Whitbeck, Bruce (Sue) Rollinson, and former wife, Esther Van Lare; his loving Van Lare 'children': Scot (Lisa), Cynthia, Jennifer (Brandon), and Paul (Caroline); and nine 'grandchildren': Rebekah, Alicia, Abby, Fallon, Mazzy, William, Maya, Aiden, and Calan. Also survived by beloved cousin Joe Cillo; two sisters, Alice (Honey) Belton and Cora Krause; two brothers, Philip and James; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Church of Naples.
Memorial service will be held at Covenant Church, 6926 Trail Blvd., Naples, FL, Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow.

When a person passes, there is only one thing left, Memories, and for all the things you did and encountered in life with friends and family, you will certainly be remembered. Loved and missed by many devoted and loving people. Rest in peace Richard. Your friends Ken and Rita Williams

May Rich rest with the angels and be at peace which he so deserves. I always enjoyed his stories and jokes as they made a very busy day go quickly. He will be remembered for the courage and determination he displayed whenever I saw him, and his smile as he faced each day. He was one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of caring for. God bless you Rich.
Yours truly,
Jo Loewel RN
