Robert Augustine Obituary
Bonita Springs, FL
Robert Leo Augustine, 79, died as a result of an accident at his Bonita Springs home on Sunday, Feb. 26th, 2017.
The son of Leo and Elizabeth Augustine, Robert was born in Carroll IA, October 4th, 1937. He graduated from Marquette University's School of Engineering in 1959 which led to a 29 year career in telecommunications. He worked for Wisconsin Bell and AT&T. His career spanned assignments in Milwaukee, Chicago, Virginia, Iran, England, Germany, and Singapore. His love of travel and adventure encompassed 6 continents.
He retired in 1998 and found Bonita Springs and Naples, FL perfect places to retire. There he continued to be active with tennis, biking, boating, Circumnavigators Club, Council on World Affairs, and the Lee County Schools Mentoring Program.
He is survived by Jill, his wife of 56 years, and his two children: Mark Augustine, of Monroe, WI, daughter Paige Augustine, of Los Angeles, CA, grandson Paul Augustine of Wauwatosa, WI and sisters Eunice Augustine Ausman and Rita Augustine Simons as well as many nieces and nephews.
A 10:00 am Requiem Mass at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs is scheduled for April 21, 2017 followed by a memorial gathering.
Donations may be made in Robert's name to the following: The Foundation of Lee County Public Schools Mentoring Program or the Marquette University's School of Engineering.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Bob and I were fraternity brothers at Marquette but had not seen each other for quite a long time. A few years ago we met at one of the annual gatherings in Hilton Head and it didn't take long after a few games of tennis and some social gatherings for the joy of those days to be re-lived (and I'm sure enhanced). I'mforever grateful for having had the opportunity for those hours with Bob.

Bob gave me my first big break while working in systems development at WI Bell. The MEED system would have not been possible without Bobs backing. Don't remember many clients from back then, but Bob is one I do.
