Rocco Rinaldi Obituary

Rocco Rinaldi

Marco Island - Rocco Rinaldi, 93, a resident of Marco Island, Fl, a Retired Chicago Area 5 Homicide Detective who served in the Cavalry, passed peacefully on June 30, 2020 after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Mary A. Rinaldi, who passed September 9, 2011. He is survived by his sisters Genny Culhane-Rinaldi and Marie Rinaldi; preceded in death by his brothers Carmine, Michael and Anthony; stepdaughter Stephanie Jacklin, grandchildren Jeffrey (Victoria) and Jennifer Jacklin; many loving nieces and nephews and 4 great grand-daughters. Rocco has prepared the following to be shared with his loved ones: When it becomes time for me to journey to the end of the road in life and the sun has set for the final time, I profoundly wish that there would be no rites in a gloom filled atmosphere of grief. Remember me and do miss me a little, but not too long and not with your heads bowed in mourning. Remember the laughter and levity that I provided throughout the years that I shared with my precious friends. Do miss me but let me go! Allow me to float up to that paradise in the sky so that I may have some visualization from time to time, of all my loyal family and friends that I left behind. May I express that I had an exceptional and marvelous life on plant earth. I look forward to seeing each of you when the time comes in paradise. Rocco will be laid to rest in the Marco Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests you donate to your favorite charity.

I met Rocco when I began working at the Red Rooster 5 years ago. He had a wonderful, dry sense of humor, and we would Often share Italian jokes and stories. There was always a twinkle in his eye when he spoke of his career with the Chicago pd and being a boxer. I became very fond of him, and will miss him.

Rocco was my dearest and best friend ever! It was instant with him and I...he had a wonderful sense of humor...we had GREAT fun together. We were retired policemen....with so very much in common. There is now a huge void in my life and the Rocco I have known and loved will NEVER be forgotten....may he rest in peace.

Rocky was the epitome of a Chicago homicide detective and a person who had a true interest in his co-workers. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great love for his dog Erick. We spoke often and I will miss his friendship. Condolences to Rocky's family/

Rock was my friend, partner and accomplice in a few high crimes and misdemeanors during our tenure at Area/5 Homicide. He had a facile sense of humor and was a commensurate gentleman with a depth of knowledge and experience.

His kind all too seldom pass our way. He will be missed on many fronts. He had a way of getting to the truth that let one believe they had found it on their own.

May our Good Lord welcome him into His Kingdom and may he Rest In Peace until we meet again.

Rocco was one of the first sergeants who mentored me as a new detective in the 1970's. He was a great guy, full of laughter and pranks and he made working in homicide fulfilling. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace and until we meet again may God hold him in the hollow of his hand.
