Ruby E. Hacker Naples, FL
Ruby E. Hacker, 93 passed away peacefully on May 25, 2011. Ruby was born on the family farm in Ruthven, IA to Martin and Mabel Simonson on May 3, 1918. She attended Waldorf College in Forest City, IA and received an Associates Degree.
In 1943, Ruby married Donald W. Hacker and moved to Franklin, MI where they raised their family. She was involved with the Franklin Community Players, a member of The Village Women's Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Ruby loved to spend her summers at their home in Pointe aux Barques, MI where she enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, tending to her flower gardens and playing golf with the ladies. After Donald's retirement they split their time between Michigan and Naples, FL where they had a home since 1956. In Naples she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years at the Naples Botanical Garden.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her oldest daughter, E. Rulaine Jorgensen; three of her siblings, Richard Simonson, James Simonson and Doris Riley; her brother-in-law, Dr. James Riley and sister-in-law Mrs. Anita Simonson.
Her survivors include her daughter, Donna Hacker; son and daughterin-law, David and Linda Hacker; siblings, LeRoy Simonson, Pete Simonson (Glenda), Phyllis Messerschmidt (Spec), Avonelle Holtz (Doug); grandchildren, Stacy Fitch (Paul), David W. Hacker and Darcy Jorgensen; as well as four great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Naples, FL and Pointe aux Barques, MI at a later date.
Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements.
