Steven Lowery Obituary

Steven Scott Lowery

Naples, FL

Steven "Scott" Lowery, of Naples, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Scott was the son of Gerald Mark Lowery and Beverly Staub Lowery.

He grew up in Florham Park, NJ acquiring a passion for horticulture at an early age from his mother, Bev, as together they tended to their beautiful gardens. Scott loved to spend summers with his extended family at his grandparents' beautiful home at Cape Vincent, NY on the banks of Lake Ontario. During early high school in NJ, Scott spent countless hours with friends and his older brothers, Craig and Mark, listening to and dissecting music, often taking the train into NYC to experience live concerts.

Scott followed his mother to Naples where he started high school and graduated Naples High School in 1977 before heading north again to study horticulture design at SUNY. He returned to Naples where he continued his education working for Naples Fertilizer and Garden Center eventually creating a local horticultural design TV/radio show where he was able to exhibit his infectious personality. Known as "The Plant Doctor", he enjoyed an avid following.

He was a long time horticulturist and landscaping specialist in Naples, Florida and well respected among his peers in the industry. He was well-known for the many articles written for Mower Man magazine in reference to Southwest Florida plants and "Timely Tips". He served many years at Wyndemere Country Club until going into business for himself. In 2003 Scott Lowery Landscape Inc was established.

He married his beautiful wife, Linda, on October 13, 2007. Scott loved to golf and hang out at the beach at his friend Dottie's house in north Naples. We will miss him dearly.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald Mark Lowery, Jr. and Richard Craig Lowery.

Survived by his loving wife Linda; three children, David (Tina) Perryman, Jennifer (James) Kehm, Joshua (Alyssa) Perryman; 14 grandchildren; his half brother and sister, Chris and Jennifer Lowery, his niece, Meghan Lowery, his uncle, Rob Staub, and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 5:30pm on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens (525 111th Ave. N. Naples, FL 34108); guests are welcome to bring pictures to share at the service.

To my beloved husband until we meet again,

We met across the way making eye contact and a smile to one another. It was definitely worth the wait of which I might add was 2 hours until you introduced yourself.

The small kindling of fire led to a lunch at Randy's. You proceeded to tell me you have never been married, had no kids, drank beer, drove a pick up and owned a gun! Oh well.... I repeated that just so I had it correct, because you informed me you were not a redneck.
I laughed then and fell in love with you at that moment and you always kept me laughing and smiling. You never let it bother you that you asked a grandmother of 7 and a mother of three to scare you way by asking me on our first date to St.George of the Dragon. "You know where it's dark and you can't see your date!!"

I used to call these comments as they grew between us lovingly as "Scottism's" making a few of my own and you would laugh.

You were told "she is high Maintenance" on a number of occasions which also never seemed to bother you. Three months after we were married you could have walked away. You were warned prior to marrying me, what if her breast cancer comes back? Well as life would have it came back with a vengeance. You stood by me to fight it along side my family and beat it I did.

We could beat anything at that point going forward with life's twists and turns. Our song "Living on a Prayer" was definitely us! Your numerous friends accepted me a loved me from the beginning what a family of friends you have . The man you were was a caring ,loving, humble, mentor, teacher, and always there for everyone at times forgetting yourself in the process. You would always strive to be the best of the best doing the right thing for everyone that needed help.

At times you lost your way your friends were there to pick you up with me. You were the most loving man I ever met and wanted to spend my life with. We made a 32 year agreement of which has fallen short in this lifetime. Rest assured we will meet again and you will forever be in my heart. As much as I tried to resist the bad boy in you I loved Steven too. Sometimes maybe too much as our life together was just like our song.

As obstacles continued to be thrown our way, deaths of loved ones, second guessing decisions with selling/ partnering your business and or merging it, going deaf, drinking, my cancer complications, your recent hospital stay and amputation with diabetes was just too much for your body to bare.

I wish you could have stayed with me longer as I feel lost but I know your body just gave out and you are at peace.

We promised each other on 10-13-2007 32 years together. We have infinity my love. Some day I will see your wink and smiling face again when I walk into a room and you will see mine. I was proud to be your wife Scott.

Until then you are in a special place in my heart for safe keeping.

I hug you one Last time and kiss you lips good bye,

I will meet you in the gulf some day as promised. I love you with all my heart Scott, good bye for now, Linda
