Marco Island, FL
Thomas William James Traeger, age 81, of Marco Island Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.
Tom was born in McKeesport, PA to Oswald and Helena Valiknac Traeger. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada and Wurzburg, Germany. Upon his return from service, he finished his education and graduated from Duquesne University and worked for General Motors.
In retirement, Tom was a Charter Member of the Marco Island Yacht Club, a member of MICA, volunteered at the Marco Island Players, was on the Advisory Board of The Marco Island Community Bank, member and past president of the Marco Island Men's Club and Life-long Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
Tom will be forever remembered by his darling wife of 62 years Darol Phillips Traeger, along with his three daughters and their families: Katherine and Keith Fawcett, Karen and Russell Shaffer and Kellie and Michael Utterback. Grandchildren, Heather Fawcett DeAcosta and spouse Jordan, Alexander Traeger Shaffer, Andrew Traeger Shaffer, Angela Utterback and Kevin Utterback & his spouse Kristin and sons Nolan & Hunter.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8th, at 10:30am at San Marco Catholic Church.
Memorial donations in memory of Tom may be made to St. Matthews House, 2001 Airport Rd, South Naples, FL 34112 or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301

Dear Darol,
My deepest sympathy on your loss. Tom was a truly kind and caring person and a wonderful coworker at General Motors. He always spoke so highly of his family and it was obvious how much he loved you.
