William Dale Terry, 59 of Idaho Springs, Colorado passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. He was born on August 11, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa to Billie D. and Joan (Baker) Terry. He received an Associate's Degree in Art and Design in Omaha, Nebraska. William was the owner/publisher of the Clear Creek Firestarter and the Treker Magazine. He received the George Jackson award for HSIS and was a member of the Idaho Springs Historical Society, the Idaho Springs Chamber of Commerce and the LBS. He was a tireless worker and enjoyed rafting, knitting, equestrian activities, rodeo, photography and philanthropy.
William is survived by his father Bill Terry; sisters Cynthia McLey and Marianne (Scott) Mabusth and nieces and nephews Kate, Patrick, Matthew, Christopher, Kelli, Jon, Elizabeth and Jenny. He is preceded in death by his mother Joan and brother Mark Alan Terry.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the United Center in Idaho Springs. A reception followed the service, at the Idaho Springs Elk's Lodge. Will was my boss at the Canyon Courier newspaper for several years (and a very smart one at that) He was always so kind to everyone and ALL animals. I will miss reading about his dogs in his publication The Firestarter. Farewell my good friend.
