GROTON -- Justin Maynard, 49, of Groton, Mass. passed away, surrounded by his family and friends, on September 30, 2013, at home following a brave journey with an aggressive illness.

Born in Ithaca, NY, he was a 1982 graduate of Marcellus Central School and a1986 graduate of Clarkson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was most recently employed as a Firmware (Bios) engineer for Mercury Systems.

Justin was the lead Mentor for the GDRHS Robotics Team. He was an avid walker and loved the trails near his home in Groton. Justin's passion for music included playing bass with many local musicians and in a variety of local productions. Bands included the Trude Witham Group and the Indian Hill Big Band.

Justin is survived by his wife and soulmate Phyllis (Raymond); his loving children Danielle, Cassandra and Ryan, and a granddaughter, Bella. In addition, he is survived by his parents, James and Grace Maynard of Auburn, a brother Leigh Maynard of Lexington KY and his grandfather, Donald Clickner of Troy, NY.

MAYNARD -- September 30, Justin J. Maynard, 49 of Groton, MA. Family and friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 4-7 pm at Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, MA. A Celebration of Justin's Life will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at the Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Hill Road, Rindge, NH, at 2 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Justin J. Maynard Memorial STEM Innovation Scholarship at North Middlesex Savings Bank, 489 Main Street, PO Box 1250, Groton, MA 01450.
