Gary Gazzillo Obituary

Gary A. Gazzillo, 73, of Navarre, Florida, passed away at home on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Born on February 28, 1952, in Glens Falls, New York, he was the second youngest child of James Gazzillo and Eleanor Ramsey Gazzillo.

Gary proudly served in the United States Air Force, separating as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War era. Following his military service, he became a firefighter with the Ocean City-Wright Fire Department. With over 20 years of combined experience, ranging from Code Enforcement to Engineer to Line Officer, and later with the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office, he spent his first four years in Code Enforcement and the remaining years as a State Law Enforcement Detective specializing in fire, arson, and explosive investigations. He retired in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael L. Gazzillo.

He is survived by his sister, Gina Johnson, and his brother, Jay Gazzillo; his daughters, Caity Phillips and Lindsay Johnen; sons-in-law, Eric Phillips and Cody Johnen; and five beloved grandchildren: Mason, Samaria, Aidan, Bella, and Cadence.

Visitation will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at Lewis Funeral Home in Navarre, with Firefighter Honors and a procession to Barrancas National Cemetery.
