Arlene DuBiago Obituary

Arlene O. DuBiago
Arlene O. DuBiago (Oslander), 79, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at UMass Memorial Hospital. Arlene was surrounded by love as she left this world, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Arlene was the beloved wife of Nicholas DuBiago, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage filled with joy and companionship. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Nicole J. DuBiago of New Canaan, CT, and Alanna M. Bodio, and her husband Stephen of Mendon. The light of her life shone brightly through her grandchildren, Brayden, and Emmalyn Bodio, who were her greatest treasures.
Born in Middletown, CT, Arlene was the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Hilgert) Oslander. She grew up with her two loving brothers, Joseph and his late wife Florence and Donald, and his wife Noreen, both of Madison, CT and her sister, Evelyn Barnes and her husband William of Niantic, CT. She took great joy in her extended family and cherished her nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her memory dear.
Arlene was a proud graduate of Daniel Hand High School in Madison and pursued her passion for education by earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut, followed by a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Arlene's passion for teaching took on many different roles with her favorite being the 13 years she spent at Toddler Time Preschool in New Canaan.
Her vibrant personality drew people to her; she was known for her love of socializing, traveling, dining out and attending shows. She enjoyed music, especially the oldies and you could often find her dancing and singing in the kitchen. Nothing made her happier than spending time at their beach house in Misquamicut, entertaining friends and family in her happy place. Arlene was an avid reader whose daily walks nurtured her spirit and kept her connected with the beauty of nature.
Arlene's greatest role was that of champion for her family. From the day her daughter, Nicole, was born, Arlene's focus shifted to advocating for everything Nicki needed to ensure she thrived in life. She continued to work tirelessly to make sure both of her daughters had everything they needed to be happy and successful while being the best partner to Nick.
Arlene was active in donating her time to the organizations that she felt passionately about. She was very involved in the Junior Women's Club of Stamford and the Kiwanis Club of Stamford. She was Chairman of the Board of ARI of CT, where she advocated for services and opportunities to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Her volunteer work continued when they moved to New Canaan, where she joined the Newcomer's Club and became head decorator for their annual Christmas House Tour fundraiser. In later years, she was instrumental in the groundwork for building South Avenue Cottage and stayed on the board for New Canaan Group Home Inc. as their Secretary.
The DuBiago family invites all who knew and loved Arlene to join them in celebrating her life. There will be a visitation on Thursday, February 13, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, concluding with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A burial will take place in the spring at a later date, with additional calling hours held on April 17th at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

I had the pleasure of working with Arlene at KT. Murphy Elementary School in Stamford. She taught me a lot of things that I didn´t know about Sped children. She was very kind to me and I really admired how she worked with the children and how calmly she was handling the difficult ones. I am so sorry to hear about her passing and my condolences go out to her family.
