David Steller

David Grimes Steller died Saturday, July 26, 2013, in Kalispell, Mont, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident the week before He was 47

Born Feb 5, 1966, he was an avid outdoorsman, and had recently moved to Whitefish, Mont, from Cottonwood Heights, Utah He was an exceptionally talented finish carpenter, his family said, and was establishing a business in Whitefish building canoes, guitars and fine furniture, at the time of his death

Mr Steller was born and raised in New Canaan, and attended West School and New Canaan Country School He later studied at the Kent School and St Lawrence University Before moving to Utah, he lived in Besalt, Colo, and in Grantham, NH, where he met and married Brooke Eisenhower, to whom he was married for 10 years

He was the son of the late Dr Robert Steller and the late Patricia O'Gara Steller of New Canaan He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Steller Grace of Princeton, NJ, and Eileen Steller Holtvedt of Whitefish, Mont, and by his brother, Michael Steller, MD of Providence, RI He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Eugene Steller Jr

Born on the birthday of his godfather, John Grimes of Pound Ridge, for whom he was named and with whom he had a particularly close relationship, he died on the 26th anniversary of this same uncle's death, his family said

"He was a kind and generous man and is remembered for his integrity, his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and for his great spirit of adventure," family said

A memorial mass is being held at St Patrick's Church in Bedford, NY on Saturday, April 12, at 11
