Jay Reader Obituary

Jay Ross Reader (Hebrew: Aryeh), loving son, grandson and brother, and devoted student of the Torah, passed away on Feb 19 He was 20 years old

According to an obituary published in The Advocate, Jay is remembered for his wide smile, deep-seeded kindness, and intense love of family and friends Friends and family remember Jay for his quick wit, sense of humor, and zest for life

Jay's passions included sports - he loved watching the Redskins and excelled at playing tennis, - politics, financial markets, being with family and friends, and studying Torah

Jay attended New Canaan High School, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), and, most recently, Southern Connecticut State University

Jay assiduously nurtured his Judaism over the years, and it blossomed while studying with Rabbi Wilhem at Yeshivas Beis Dovid Shlomo in West Haven Jay deeply enjoyed the Shabbos, when the world slowed down and cell phones were turned off, when one's focus returned to nourishing the soul with a hearty meal, quiet reflection and study, and the company of family and friends

Jay is survived by his mother and father, Mr and Mrs Paul Reader, of New Canaan; his sister, Ms Alanna Reader, also of New Canaan; his grandfather, Hyman Reiser, of Newtown, Conn; numerous loving, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends across the tri-state area, including his extended family at Yeshivas Beis Dovid Shlomo
