John W "Bud" Lynn

John W (Bud) Lynn passed peacefully from this world with a smile on his face and a joke in his heart on Monday, Nov 25 He was at the Boca Raton Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones

He was born on March 4, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Tom and Olga Lynn He graduated from Jamaica High School where he excelled in sports, and attended Syracuse University from 1939-1941

Bud served in the Army Air Corps during WWII While stationed in North Africa, his plane was shot down during the invasion of Italy He received the Purple Heart and air medal with eight oak leaf clusters, for his 46 missions He returned home and married the love of his life, Adele Grant, and began his successful career with the FW Woolworth Co

He started in the stockroom and moved up very quickly He held many positions in the company, Northeastern regional vice-president, Mid-Atlantic regional vice president, senior vice-president of merchandising, president of the company He retired as Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Woolworth Corporation Worldwide He served on the board of directors for Borden Inc, FW Woolworth Ltd Canada, Woolworth Mexicana, Kinney shoes and Foot Locker

Bud and Adele lived in Greenwich for many years He was a parishioner of St Agnes Church After retirement, they moved to Boca Raton, Fla, where he was a parishioner of St Joan of Arc Church

Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Adele Grant Lynn He also leaves four children, Suzanne Lynn Falkenbush (Richard) South Burlington, Vt, Dianne Lynn Nofi Long Island, NY, Robert Grant Lynn (Lottie) Stamford, J Thomas Lynn (Julie) New Canaan; 12 grandchildren, Amy VanderNeut (Paul), Lisa Lubas (Mike), Michael Nofi (Christie), Nicole Nicastro (Nick), Jamie Falkenbush (Willow), Greg Nofi, Melissa Miele (Mike), Jennifer Adler (Elliot), Jessica Lynn, Ryan Lynn (Taylor), Chris Lynn (Ashley), Taylor Lynn; fourteen great-grandchildren Katie, Alexa, Nicholas, Morganne, Tim,  Haley, Emily, Annalise, Michael, Elizabeth, Sawyer, Grady, Lincoln, Olivia, Hunter Jean He also leaves his devoted caregiver Silvia, and her loving family
