John Williams Obituary

John Allen Williams
John Allen Williams, retired owner of Williams & Co., a former framing and antique store on Forest Street in New Canaan, Connecticut, passed away on October 1, 2021. John was born January 18, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Jack H. and B. Ellen Williams. John obtained undergraduate and master's degrees in Anthropology from San Francisco State University. He also attended Antioch College, Ohio, and Columbia Law School. John was fluent in Japanese and Chinese, having spent several years in Taiwan and Japan. He absolutely relished his Japanese experiences, frequently talking about them. Previously he had owned Singular Prints, Inc., a New York City business specializing in framing unique prints and paintings from around the world.
John had multiple creative talents, writing articles and plays, drawing, making pottery, and photography at different times in his life. He was an avid reader who was always surrounded by books. Later in life he enjoyed coin collecting, walking, and talking. John was a friendly, happy person who enjoyed life and knew a wide circle of people.
John loved the years he spent running his business and living in the New Canaan area; for this reason, he was interred at the Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
He is survived by three siblings: James H. Williams, Palmyra, PA; Thomas R. Williams, Anacortes, WA; and Nancy E. Williams, Washington, DC.
Donations in his memory may be made to the New Canaan Land Trust, P. O. Box 425, New Canaan, CT 06840.
