Peter Moore of Old Saybrook, CT passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on October 29 at 56 years of age. He was born in Norwalk, CT on April 15,1964 to David and Gudrun Moore of New Canaan, CT.
Peter graduated from New Canaan High School in 1982 and then attended Mitchell College. In 1986, Peter enlisted in the Army and served for two years in the Second Armored Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Peter was a talented, lovable guy who befriended everyone he met. He worked in several fields over the years from a financial consultant in the structured settlement business to a painter/construction worker in home renovation, to a manager with several landscaping businesses. His favorite job was as a Yacht Club/Dock Manager in Old Saybrook, CT.
Peter had many loves in his life. He loved boating from kayaks to power boats but particularly sailing. He enjoyed all kinds of music and loved to sing with his guitar for family and friends. "Uncle Peter" was a favorite with all his nephews and nieces and loved playing sports with them from baseball to football to basketball to tennis to biking.
Although, like most people, Peter faced several challenges in life he always rose above them and was on a real high the last couple years of his life. He'd found Nicole, the "Love of his Life" and her daughter Natasha and Nicole's family and was planning to get married in 2021; they'd bought and renovated a home near the ocean in Old Saybrook which was his pride and joy; he'd found his favorite dog, Clause, a big snow-white Great Pyrenees and he knew he was loved by his entire family.
Peter leaves behind and will be dearly missed by his mother and father, Gudrun and Deane; his son, Austin; his life partner, Nicole, her daughter Natasha and parents Marc and Nancy; his brother, Chris and his wife Sara; his sister Monica and her partner Billy; his step-brothers Scott and his wife Terri and Greg and his wife Ginger; and his nephews Charley, Olle, Kent and Grant and nieces Annika, Allison and Caroline.
Due to COVID19, his "Celebration of Life" services will be held in 2021, in New Canaan at the Talmadge Hill Community Church on June 12th at 11 am; on June 13th in Old Saybrook at their Knollwood Beach Association Club at 11am; and at a veteran's memorial service at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on May 14th at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in his name.
