Richard Allen Brown

Richard Allen Brown, a financial consultant, Korean war veteran, and dedicated family man died Wednesday, April 2, in New Canaan He was 85

Mr Brown was born Jan 13, 1929, in Austin, Minn, to George and Iva Brown Growing up in Austin, he excelled in sports, his family said, winning his first state championship with the men's basketball team in 1946 and graduating all-state in both football and basketball

After graduating Deerfield Academy, Mr Brown went on to attend Dartmouth College There he was a member of Beta Theta Phi, the Sphinx Society, and the starting kicker for the football team still holding university records to this day

Graduating Dartmouth in 1952, Richard went on to serve as a second lieutenant in the US Marine Corps After returning home from duty overseas, he met Lynn Johanson Brown The two were married in 1956 in San Francisco, before moving to Pittsburgh, and finally settling in Darien, were they lived for 54 years

For those 54 years, Mr Brown was an active member of Wee Burn Country Club and an avid golfer In addition, he was a member of the Darien Men's Association The last two years of his life were spent in New Canaan, surrounded by his family and friends

Mr Brown is survived by his wife of 58 years Lynn, his daughters Suzie Barit of Blairstown, NJ, and Jodi Brown of New Canaan; and his grandchildren, Alex of Houston, Tyler of New York City, and Taylor of Los Angeles
