Rudolf Weber Obituary

Rudolf P Weber of New Canaan, Conn, and Wohlen, Switzerland, died on May 23, 2017 at his Connecticut home, where he lived with his wife Andrietta (Montana) for 54 years He was 90 years old

Rudy was born in Zurich, Switzerland, to Albert and Alice Weber-Mueller He was active in the community growing up in Wohlen Rudy achieved the rank of Quartermaster during his mandatory Swiss military service He studied at the Zurich Business School before joining the Arola division of Bally Shoes of Switzerland in 1947 Rudy completed their management training course before being promoted to Bally's New York office at 444 Madison Avenue in 1953 With Bally, he rose to the level of Executive VP in charge of Marketing, Sourcing and Quality Rudy had a keen eye for fashion, and regularly traveled to Italy and France, to source shoes, handbags and apparel Fluent in four languages, he was respected as a sharp negotiator After retiring from Bally in 1993, Rudy spent two years consulting for Bruno Magli

After a short courtship in New York, Rudy and Andrietta were married in 1957 at a ceremony in Zurich They moved with their two sons to New Canaan, Conn, in 1963 where they became active members of the First Presbyterian Church Rudy enjoyed classical music and particularly opera He also taught his sons to ski, an activity he enjoyed into his 70's After his retirement, he and his wife traveled the world, reaching all seven continents When in Switzerland, Rudy loved showing visiting family and friends, the beauty of his native country

Rudy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Andrietta Montana Weber, and his brother, Peter A Weber with wife Marianne and numerous cousins in Switzerland Rudy is also survived by two sons, Roger P Weber, and Jeffrey R Weber with wife Laura Kramer Weber, and two grandchildren, Alexander J Weber and Alicia G Weber

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, Conn In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan, Conn, 06840, or Regional Hospice Office of Philanthropy, 30 Milestone Road, in Danbury, Conn, 06810
