Blanchard Childress Obituary

Blanchard E. Childress, Jr., J.R., born Sept. 25, 1941, died at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 23, 2017, after a courageous battle against cancer.
J.R. attended Kentland Schools before moving to Remington and later graduating from Remington High School in the class of 1959.
He is survived by five children, Diane Childress Possing, Terry Childress Govostes (Steve), Brian Childress, Kyle Childress, and Ashley Childress Bowler, stepbrother Norman D. Childress, Stepsister Betty J. Childress, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Blanchard E. Childress, his father, and Mary Hiestand Childress, his mother.
J.R. was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kentland and was an animal lover who especially enjoyed his dog, Ace, as well as anything to do with cars.
A memorial service to honor and remember the life of J.R. will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2775 W. 1500 S. Kentland, from 3-5 p.m. on Jan. 27, with refreshments to follow.

Sorry to hear of Blanchard's passing, we went to high school together, had some great times together and on our senior trip we had a lot of fun.

Sorry to hear of JR's passing, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope. In the days to come may you find comfort in that hope.
