Janice G. Holman, 79, of Nebraska City, Neb., passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Bailey Pointe at Miracle Hills in Omaha, Neb.
Janice Gayle Holman was born on September 18, 1946, in Nebraska City, the daughter of Robert Bernard and Freda Lucille (Broers) Barrett. Janice grew up and attended school in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1966. Later in life, when she was in her 40s, Janice attended dietician classes at Southeast Community College where she obtained her associates degree.
On August 2, 1969, Janice was united in marriage to James LeRoy Holman in Nebraska City and to this union four children were born: Julie, Jennifer, Jolene and Jason. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2015.
In addition to raising a family, Janice worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills, Food Pride and later Wal-Mart. She was a member of Bethel Church. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of various bowling leagues over the years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Julie Holman of Overland Park, Kan., Jennifer Bryant (Paul) of Hamburg, Iowa, Jolene Strong (Geoff) of Timnath, Colo., and Jason Holman (Kassi) of Nebraska City; 13 grandchildren: Cassandra Filipi, Tyler Filipi, Brendon Filipi, Matthew Filipi, Amanda Bryant, Deven Holman (Karli), Nikki Berggren (Nick), Colton Holman, Cadence Strong, Abigayle Strong, Dylan Holman, Quintin (Issabella) Holman and Keston Holman; three great-grandchildren: Payton Taylor, Emmy Berggren and Sutton Berggren; siblings: Allan Barrett of Nebraska City, Gary Barrett (Lori) of Bellevue, Neb., and Sharon Heng of Lincoln, Neb.; brother-in-law Richard Holman (Rose) of Lincoln; uncle Ron Barrett (Regina) of Lincoln and aunt Vera Orton of Nebraska City; other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Janice was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandson Milo James Holman; brother Dennis Barrett, brother-in-law Stan Heng and sister-in-law Lavena Barrett.
A Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Bethel Church in Nebraska City with Pastor Jacob Colligan officiating. Burial followed at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
The family greeted friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to Bethel Church.
Gude Mortuary and Marshall Funeral Chapel were in charge of arrangements.
