Doris Cross Bartleson

Doris Cross Bartleson, 98, formerly of South Sterling, passed away at St. Mary's Villa Skilled Nursing Facility, Elmhurst, PA, on Tuesday morning July 24, 2018.

She was the widow of LeRoy W. Bartleson, who died in 2000. They had been married 60 years.

Doris Graduated from Greene-Dreher High School in 1938. She was a community leader for over 65 years. She was a very active member of Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, its quilting group and Wesley Circle, a member of the Greene-Dreher Alumni Association, a life member of the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair Assn., a 60 year member of the Community Women's Club, member of Post #859 American Legion Auxiliary, 65 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Greene-Dreher Historical Society, and Laurel Blossoms Senior Citizens. She also served as Dreher Township Committee Woman and Election Board Inspector for many years.

She was employed by the Sterling Inn, and Pocono Mountain Plastics, South Sterling and retired from the Weiler Brush Company, Cresco in 1982, after 19 years of employment there.

Doris and LeRoy traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and the Western states; they spent 11 winters in Fort Myers, Florida.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Joyce Manhart, Greentown and Donna and James Lee, Newfoundland; grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Tracey Manhart, LeAnn and Wes Hearn, Branden Lee and fiancée, Chrissie Powell all of Greentown, Melanie and Mark Seagraves, Newfoundland; great-grandchildren Derek and Amanda Seagraves, Greentown, Chelsea Seagraves and fiancé, Joshua Beierle, Newfoundland, Wesley and Michaela Hearn, and Savannah Powell, all of Greentown, and one great-great grandchild, Coleman Ray Seagraves, Greentown. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Wright; three brothers, Albert, Allen and Calvin Cross; son-in-law, Dennis Manhart, and granddaughter Krista Lynn Manhart.

A Memorial service will be held Friday July 27, 2018 at 12 noon in Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church 491 Roemerville Road, Greentown. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery S. Sterling.
