Joann Lorraine Barker Obituary

Joann Lorraine Barker, 69 of Nevada died on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services were held Monday, August 27 at the First Evangelical Free Church in Ames with Pastor David Staff officiating.

Joann was born on September 17, 1937 in Des Moines to Arthur and Alvergia (Rankins) Cox. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. Joann attended Arizona State. On December 30, 1960, she married Loren Barker in Bethany, MO. Joann moved to Nevada 10 years ago from Story City. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and collecting antiques and collectables.

Joann is survived by her husband Loren of Nevada; her mother Alvergia Cox of Story City; 4 sons, Tom and Jennifer, Jay, all of Story City, Doug and Andrea of Waverly, and Bob and Dana of Nevada; 7 grandchildren, Jessica and Josh Nordin, Amanda and John Rogers, Austin Barker, Whitney Barker, Brandon Barker, Issabella Barker, and Riley Barker; 3 great grandchildren, Dylan Nordin, Nickolas Buttler, and Jacob Rogers.

Joann was preceded in death by her father.
The family received friends on Sunday, August 26 at Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund for Joann has been established.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services was entrusted with Joann and her family.
