JAMES ORASIN Obituary

James C. Orasin, 96, of Tunkhannock passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret 'Midge' (Tornich) Orasin.

Born on Oct. 9, 1926 in Forest City, he is the son of the late Andrew and Angela (Selan) Orasin.

James served his country and joined the United States Navy in 1944. He diligently served his country until 1946, demonstrating bravery and patriotism. James' devotion to his nation was admirable, and he carried this deep sense of loyalty with him throughout all aspects of his life.

He had a fulfilling career as the owner of the prestigious Prince Hotel. Alongside his wife, he dedicated his time and efforts to ensuring that guests received exceptional service and experienced unforgettable stays. Their hard work and dedication earned them widespread recognition throughout their tenure, and they retired together in 1990 after leaving an indelible mark on the community.

James fostered numerous passions that brought immense joy into his life. He possessed a green thumb and found peace in gardening. Planting seeds and nurturing flowers gave him a profound sense of fulfillment as he witnessed the beauty of nature coming alive under his care. Among all the blossoms he tended to so lovingly, dahlias held a particularly special place in his heart. He also had an adventurous spirit that drew him outdoors whenever possible.

Amongst his diverse interests was attending horse races-a pastime that allowed him to indulge in the excitement and energy of the equestrian world. James greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, witnessing the impressive horses galloping around the tracks. This love for horse racing brought him immense pleasure and formed lasting memories that he cherished dearly.

Furthermore, James was an ardent sports fan who held a particular passion for football. He had an impressive record of attending 15 Super Bowls throughout his lifetime. His dedication to supporting his chosen teams exemplified his unwavering loyalty and commitment.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Lunger and husband Edward.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Andrew Orasin, William Orasin, Joseph Orasin, Albert Orasin; sisters: Ann Kouchy, Angela Bannon, Theresa Hanley, Vera Orasin.
