Sherolyn B. Hawk, 82, of Meshoppen, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
There is a sadness in Sankey Valley, a name given to the century farm homestead where she was raised and lived. She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Jim Hawk.
Sherry leaves a legacy that will live in the hearts of her family. Her work ethic will always be a staple. She was a carhop in Miami, an Avis rent-a-car rep, and a Legg's distributor to name a few. She owned her own fabric store in Tunkhannock, the Pin Cushion. She could go from camo to vogue. In 1986, she opened her business, Hawk Insurance which continues to serve the community with her children and her grandchildren.
She served on the Interfaith Board as president, Wyoming County Chamber, BPW, Republican Chairperson and Master Gardener.
In the winter she was an avid hunter, and in the spring and summer you could find Sherry in her gardens, flowers and vegetables-enough to supply a small country. She and Jim loved to travel to watch the Dodgers and enjoy life on the porch. They were a team. She loved to feed the troops and gathering in their kitchen was always an event. She was famous for her pies, you had to be quick to get
a piece of the chocolate cream especially.
We will miss her umbrella on the beach in Florida, she was the first one there and the last one to leave. She never judged and there was a lot to judge. Her support and love were unwavering along with her positive attitude about life.
She leaves behind a loving family, son, Jeff Tyler and companion Donna Goff of Montrose; daughter, Janelle Tyler of Florida; daughter, Robin Emmerich and husband Eric, Springville; son, Clint Tyler and companion Ruth Milnes, Meshoppen; daughter, Dina Petersen and husband Michael of Virginia; son, Michael Hawk and wife Liz of Seattle, Wash.; and son, Jason Hawk of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Christine Strumski; and sister-in-law, Susan Button and wife Lori.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Eleanor and Hilton Button; brother, Phillip Button; brother-in-law, David Strumski; and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Tyler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 31, at 5 p.m., from the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at the Bunnell Hill Cemetery, Meshoppen.
