Charles Row Obituary

Charles R. Row

Granville: A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles R. Row, 69, of Granville, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Bob Long as celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. in Shepherd Hall at the church.

A faithful and compassionate man, Chuck passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville. He was born in Columbus to the late Robert E. and Myrtle (Stettler) Row.

After graduating with the class of 1966 from Granville High School, Chuck was recruited to play baseball at Ball State and was a walk-on to their football team. He would later graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in industrial sociology. "Charlie" was a versatile athlete participating in baseball, basketball, and football, and was captain of these teams. His athletic achievements earned him membership in the Granville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Chuck was a staunch OSU Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers fan.

Chuck was a farmer and proprietor of American Ag Equipment, which imported hay bailing equipment from Norway. He enjoyed athletics, fishing, reading, playing cards, gourd art, wood working and cabinet making. Additionally, he was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and participated in many Bible studies and Promise Keepers. Chuck will be remembered as a loving husband and father with a gregarious and magnanimous personality.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Janis Row; sons, Isaac and Christian; siblings, Martin and Patty Row, Frances and Patrick Robb, and Lucinda and Bernie Smith; and many faithful feline and canine companions.

Memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville, OH 43023, Second Chance Humane Society, 103 S Main St, Johnstown, OH 4303, or the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.

i will always remember you as my dear cousin and friend. You were a great part of my childhood and I thank God that I was allowed to share fun times and great childhood memories. You and Fran and Cindy and Mart and Dan And myself spent many times around the old flat low square table that was made especially for us kids to eat. I remember when you and I would sneak into the kitchen cupboards and get candy. Aunt myrtle always stored candy in the cupboard by the refrigerator. Yummmm. I remember when we would all play hide and seek and take bike rides down to the creek by the Yanks farm.... play in the creek and stay busy all day just getting into anything that we could, remember when you boys would always go off to your baseball games and us girls had to stay behind, I remember when your mom would take us all to get our hair cuts. Very short was the style. I remember the big giant wooden wash tubs that we all had to get baths in after a day of doing chores and playing in the hay and all of the other thihgs that went along with Farm life. I could go on and on, but I will stop for now. You are and will be missed by all of us, brother and sisters and cousins. Love Sally

The happiest times of life growing up in Granville were spent with Chuck. It was so much fun playing sports with him and just hanging out with our friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jan and their sons.
