Jared Overbey Obituary
NEWARK: Funeral services for Jared Ray Overbey will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st Street, Newark. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Tuesday and 3-4 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Overbey, age 38, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born May 2, 1978 in Newark to parents Steve and Cheryl (Swarner) Overbey. He attended Newark High School and was employed by Mound City Products .Jared loved sports and in his youth played baseball, football and ran track; as an adult he turned to playing golf. He was an avid fisherman and never turned down a chance to go fishing with one of his many friends. Friends who can tell you just what a great fisherman he was. Jared was loving, caring and a selfless man. He was always there to help his family and friends. Always willing to share what he had with others. He had a smile and laugh that touched many hearts.
Jared is survived by his parents Steve and Cheryl Overbey of Newark; his brothers Nathan and Chad Overbey; paternal grandfather Fred Swaner of Newark; aunts Cindy Elsawy, Jackie, Sue and Molly Overbey; nephews Jayce and Chad Overbey II and a very special nephew and best friend whom he loved with all his heart, Caelan Overbey. Jared is also survived by numerous cousins from the Elsawy and Overbey families.
Jared was preceded in death by his grandmother Millie Swaner; paternal grandparents Harlene and Don Marriott, Aunt Mary and Ed Bradley who he viewed as grandparents and his fur baby child, "Duce."

It doesn´t seem possible that it has been 5 years today that you left us. You are so loved and missed by those you left behind. I think about you everyday and miss all the wonderful things about you. You friends have shared with me some great stories about you over these past years and I hold them within my heart along with my memories of you. Sending hugs and all my love to you in heaven.

3 years...seems like just yesterday we were golfing, fishing or just poking fun at each other. (BTW I tell about all the huge bass you caught from the course all the time.) Other times is seems like forever. Although we believe you left us early God must have had a bigger plan for you. We love and miss you brother.

I miss you every day my sweet boy...you momma loves and misses you so much. Nothing is the same without you here,you were the glue that helped to hold us all together. You and daddy are now together and I know you are both happy to be together again and knowing that has helped me some with my sadness. It will be 3 years tomorrow that I lost you and a year the following Monday that I lost your father. I miss you both so much. Hug your Dad for me. Love always till we meet again your Momma.

Jared was always there for you through thick and thin. His laughter made YOU laugh no matter how you were feeling in the moment. We attended concerts, ate 2am pizza, and just enjoyed his company anytime he was around. I was truly saddened to hear he is no longer on this earth with us. I have so many great memories of you, man. Jared will be missed by all who knew him. Laughter and smiles were always heard as he fixed his special meals and insisted on doing dishes.He planted flowers for me after working all day in his parents yard. Frank loved going fishing with the King of Fishing. RIP
