Lori K. Denkewalter

Heath, Ohio, formerly of Urbana - Lori K. Denkewalter, 59 of Heath, Ohio, formerly of Urbana, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 in Hospice of Central Ohio at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Lori was born July 1, 1961 in Urbana, Ohio the daughter of the late Dr. Fred and Maurine (Bowen) Denkewalter. She was a 1979 graduate of Urbana High School. Lori earned her Bachelor's in Spanish from Marietta College, Class of 1983 and went on to earn her Master's in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton. Lori also earned her Master's in Spanish from the Middlebury College where she graduated with honors. Lori was instrumental in starting the Spanish department at Springfield South High School. She also taught at Graham High School. Lori volunteered at the Caring Kitchen and Community Christmas. She enjoyed gardening and working on the family farm, rowing, tennis, swimming, world travel, being an animal owner and she was an avid reader. Family was always first throughout her whole life. She was a loving and compassionate mother, sister and daughter.

Lori is survived by her daughter, Murphy "Luci" Ritter Denkewalter-Burdick (fiancé, Kyle Gisburne); brothers, Fred (Juanita) Denkewalter and Jack Denkewalter; sister, Lisa (Michael) Fetter as well as 8 nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, William F. Denkewalter.

A celebration of life service will be held in the future in Urbana, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lori's memory to the American Heart Association, Great Rivers Affiliate, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693, PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 West Route 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078 or to your local addiction services.
