Robert Slatzer Obituary
Newark - A private family funeral service will be held for Robert L. Slatzer, 88 of Newark with Pastor Gary Dheel officiating at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home. Burial will be in the New Straitsville Cemetery.
Bob passed away on Saturday January 16, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born January 26, 1932 in Shawnee, Oh to Edward E. and Evelyn G. (Haynes) Slatzer.
He retired from Rockwell Manufacturing in 1982. He delivered flowers for Roots & Shoots Flowers for several years. He attended Free Will Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post # 85. He enjoyed meeting friends in the morning for coffee at McDonald's.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharon L. (Wright) Slatzer; daughter, Yana (Pat) Freeman of Hanover, MI; son Robert A. "Bobby" Slatzer of Newark; grandchildren, Patrick D. (Beth) Freeman, II of Spring Arbor, MI, Amanda Lynn (Arron) Allen of Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Matthew Robert Freeman, Savannah Anne Freeman; special friends, Rose Cost, Mark Toothman, Bob Shannon and his canine friend, Sylvia.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 10am to 11am at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Free Will Baptist Church, 37 Westmoor Avenue, Newark OH 43055.
