Robert Wong Obituary
Lebanon - With a heavy heart, we sadly announce the passing of Robert Wong (91) on May 28, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Lebanon, Ohio. Bob was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and attended Victoria College and University of British Columbia; Master's Degrees at the University of Southern California in Oceanography and Physics and received his Ph.D. in Physical-Inorganic Chemistry at Purdue University in 1954 and post-doctoral fellow with Nobel Prize recipient Dr. H.C. Brown. Through House Bill HR-2473, later becoming Private Law 842 of the 84th Congress (1956) sponsored by Congressman Charles A. Halleck of Indiana, Bob and Faith obtained Permanent Residency, later becoming naturalized in 1964.
His entire commercial career (31 years) was with Owens-Corning Fiberglas Research and Development Laboratories, holding positions from Senior Scientist to Manager of Chemistry R&D to Senior Research Fellow; developed/co-developed 25 patents, several publications and lectures; followed by 10 years of national and international consultancy. Additionally, he was a Professor of Chemistry at The Ohio State University Newark and was a member of President's Council at Purdue University.
He is predeceased by his parents Wong Sing and Oylene; brothers Leslie, Henry, James and sister, Edna Chow. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 65 years Faith; son David (Debbie) of Granville - grandchildren Ryan (Honolulu, HI) and Lea (Dave) Freeman and great grandson Gideon Robert (Columbus, OH); daughter Melissa Wharton (Rick) of Cincinnati, OH- grandchildren Ashley Ma (San Francisco, CA) and Kevin Ma (Madison, WI); Leslie Moeller (Robert) of Lebanon, OH - grandson Robert (Kimberly) of Salina, KS and great grandchildren Huck James, Crosby Wong, Georgia Mae, Archer Harry; and grandson Benjamin (Sophia) of Shanghai, China and great grandson Lee Michael; brother Thomas Sr (Wei) of Richmond BC Canada and sister Joyce Yip of Seattle, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family also wishes to recognize the multitude of friends, co-workers, tennis pals and health care givers who have so thoughtfully touched his life. He cared deeply and loved you all.
Memorial Service Saturday, September 1 at 11a.m. First Presbyterian Church of Granville followed by a luncheon.

It is also noted that Robert Wong sister Joyce (Wong) Yip from Seattle, Washington passed away June 6, 2019 at age of 90. She was survived by Jeanette, Douglas and Steve Yip. Sharon Chow niece in Victoria, BC.

Our late brother Robert Wong was one of the children in our church family. His father was one of the founding Elders of our church. Robert attended our church until moving to the United States to further his studies.
God blessed Robert with a brilliant mind that enabled him to make many achievements during his career.
On behalf of the Session and the congregation of the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Victoria, BC Canada, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time of loss and bereavement.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
