Ruby Stone Obituary

Ruby L. Stone

NEWARK: A private service for Ruby L. Stone, 84, of Newark, will be held at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Rath officiating. A private burial will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Ruby passed away March 15, 2014, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born August 5, 1929, in Looneyville, WV, to the late Lloyd and Shada O. (Casto) Looney.

She was a 53 year member of First United Methodist Church. Ruby was a fine Christian lady, humble in spirit and generous, always giving and wanting or expecting nothing in return. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother all of whom loved her in return. Her graciousness was her crowning glory and was an example of the 'right way to live'. Ruby's quilts and pies were the envy of all who saw or tasted them. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of her friendship.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George E. Stone, whom she married on June 6, 1953; sons, Ed (Sue) Stone of Heath, Roger (Teresa) Stone of Cincinnati, and Mitch Stone of Granville; daughter, Terry (Rick) Allman of Blacklick; brother, Clark (Maria) Looney of Columbus; grandchildren, Vanessa, Sarah, Lauren, Ben, Chris, Sam, and Brandon; great-granddaughter, Annabelle, and niece, Diane Looney of Columbus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 88 N. Fifth St., P.O. Box 729, Newark, Ohio 43055, or to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 15th Floor, New York, New York 10017.

Anytime my grandparents spoke Ruby's name there was love and admiration in their voice. I'm so glad that I did get a chance to meet Ruby, I'm only sad that I didn't get to know her better (or experience her pie).
She was comforting voice during Papa's illness. May your memories and faith bring you comfort and peace now with knowledge that you will be reunited again for eternity. God Bless,
