Steven Johnson Obituary

Steven Craig Johnson

DELAWARE: Steven Craig Johnson, 59, of Delaware, died peacefully Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Kobacker House, Columbus, OH, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born November 2, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa to Glynn and Mary (Lewis) Johnson. He attended Newark Catholic High School and Denison University before establishing careers at Roadway Express and GENCO Logistics.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Siobhan (Kerrigan); two sons, Sam of Chicago, IL, and Will of Columbus, OH; daughter Sarah (Adam) Simmons of Nashville, TN; granddaughter Elin Simmons of Nashville, TN; parents Glynn and Mary (Lewis) Johnson of Heath, OH; sisters, Kathy (Les) Stoll, and Linda Wintgens of Granville, OH, and Therese Phillips of Daytona Beach, FL; and aunt Peggy (Marc) Hazelwood of Ormond Beach, FL; in addition to many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Steve enjoyed watching and cheering for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and spending time with his family and new granddaughter Elin. He also found much joy and peace away from his family on the golf course. Steve was incredibly hardworking, and above all, was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was boundlessly selfless, always placing others before himself, making the extra effort to lend a helping hand and make someone's day brighter.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Also, a special thank you for the dedicated, loving care received at the Kobacker House.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Robinson Funeral Home, Monday June 13, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Health's Kobacker House or The American Cancer Society.

A graveside service and interment for the family will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Mr. & Mrs. Johnson, Linda, Kathy, and Theresa, and to Steve's family: I am so sad to learn of Steve's passing. He will be remembered as Duck Johnson and one of the best Steve's in the neighborhood. Seeing his photo here, he still had that infectious smile. My heart aches for you all. Prayers for comfort and peace.
