Vee Frances

SCOTTSDALE, AZ: Vee Frances (nee Virginia Mynes), age 90, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away Wednesday, October 8 at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Worthington, Ohio.

She was born December 20, 1923 in St. Albans, West Virginia. Vee was the daughter of Pearl and Hazel Mynes. Vee graduated from St. Albans High School, earned her R.N. degree at University of Richmond Virginia Nursing School, and later earning a bachelor's degree from Kent State University. She was a nurse for many years in Canton, Ohio and later in life a school nurse at South High School in Phoenix, Arizona. She loved Arizona, especially the weather, and was called Zonie by her children and grandchildren. While living in Arizona, Vee kept busy with many activities such as her long time involvement with Tri-City Toastmasters and her service as a docent at Scottsdale Center of Contemporary Art. She also liked to usher at the Friends of Orpheus Theatre and see various theatre productions.

She was very active in church activities at the Scottsdale United Methodist Church. She drove a GMC van until she was 90.5, loved to travel and visited many places and countries around the world.

Vee Frances is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Susan Simms (Robert Palmer) of Columbus, Ohio; a son, John (Beth) Scranage of Newark, Ohio; and a sister, Margie Miller of St. Albans, West Virginia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A family service will take place in mid-October at the Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans where her parents were buried before her. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Vee was a member of the Arizona Education Association - Retired and a member of the local Scottsdasle Chapter. She was always a delight at our lunch meetings and stylishly dressed. We will miss her!
